On May 16 a rally of solidarity was held near the Belarusian Embassy in London.
Belarusians who live in London have held a picket on the Day of Solidarity. They unfurled white-red-white flags and held portraits of political prisoners Mikalay Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau and Uladzimir Asipenka, as well as abducted politicians, the press-service of the Young Front informs.
“We hope for immediate release of the businessmen, political prisoners, and for detection of cases of the abducted politicians. We wish health, courage and endurance to all the repressed and their families,” said one of the participants of the rally Yauhen Bakunovich.
As we have informed, activists of the entrepreneurs’ movement from Vaukavysk Mikalai Autukhovich, Yury Lyavonau, and Uladzimir Asipenka were detained on February 8, 2009. On February 18, they were brought charges under article 218 of the Criminal Code (intentional destruction or damage to property of citizens). Human rights activists consider the detained to be political prisoners, they turn attention to the fact Mikalai Autukhovich and Yury Lyavonau were convicted before and were recognized prisoners of conscience by the international community.
