Eindhoven will commemorate the disappeared Belarusians and support the political prisoners

On September the 16th In Eindhoven (Netherlands) a commemoration ceremony dedicated to the involuntary disappeared Belarusians and an action of solidarity with the political prisoners will take place.

On the 16th of September 2008 in the center of Eindhoven, which is since 1996 a twin-city of the Belarusian capital Minsk, four trees were planted in the memory of the involuntary disappeared Yuri Zakharenko, Viktor Gonchar, Anatoly Krasovsky and Dmitry Zavadsky. Same day 2009 commemoration ceremony took place on the spot. September the 16th 2010 was marked by the opening of the photo exposition Verdwenen maar niet vergeten (Disappeared but not Forgotten).

This year the commemoration ceremony is set to 18:00 local time at Paradijslaan near the trees planted in memory of the involuntary disappeared Belarusians. The commemoration is preceded by an action of support with all the accused on the «case of December 19». From 15:00 to 18:00 in 18 Septemberplein of Eindhoven the passers-by will be faced with a stand with photos of all political prisoners, brief information and their addresses. Passers-by will be asked to sign a postcard to a prisoner. The basis of the postcard is the painting "Rainbow" by Anatoly Krasovsky's daughter Valeriya.

The events are organized by Amnesty International, FNV, Solid Foundation, Mission to Minsk and We Remember.

Both the commemoration and the solidarity action are open for public.
